May
Day or Beltane
Beltane (Gaelic for May) marks the wheel of the year as the midpoint
between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. This is the
time of the traditional Maypole dance, using a young, green tree as it's center.
The celebration of Beltane is a mythic ritual of fertility, symbolizing the community's
hopes for a bountiful growing season. As the sun starts to heat up the earth,
and spring blossoms into summer, you can make magical use of the element of fire
to melt away old hurts and warm your heart.

**SPRING
EQUINOX** The Sun enters Aries
EGGS STAND ON THEIR ENDS!! In the wheel of the year, this is the point of
perfect balance between day and night, light and dark, winter and summer, inner
and outer. The Equinox is where balance is achieved and separations dissolve.
Traditionally, the Equinox was a ferility festival celebrating the virgin goddess
and the rebirth of the Earth, and rituals were enacted to ensure the fullness
of summer. The traditional symbols of Spring are the egg and the hare, universal
life and the magic of continual regeneration. Let the excitement of new growth
and the beauty of the new blooms stimulate you to DO something about the state
of Mother Earth; find new ways to champion and protect her sacred beauty. We can
create new reasons to be hopeful about the future.

Summer
Solstice. The Sun enters Cancer.
The Summer Solstice marks the moment when the North Pole is its maximum
inclination toward the Sun. The Sun rises and sets at it's most southern point,
and attains its highest arc. This is what creates the longest day of the year.
From this point the axis will start to tilt, as we move toward darkness, the polarity
point or Winter Solstice in Capricorn. Summer Solstice is the point of
greatest abundance, when creativity is at its peak. Celebrate with nature.
