The FULL MOON+LUNAR ECLIPSE is on August 28 in Pisces (at 4 Pisces 46)

A Total Lunar Eclipse takes place during a Full Moon when the Earth lines up between Sun and Moon, intensifying the themes of the planets. A Lunar Eclipse is a visible reflection of the Earth on the Moon. We are literally seeing our shadow move across the Moon. This means we see our lives reflected in a subtle yet powerful way.

In northeast USA, you will be able to see the beginning of the Umbral phase at Moonset, which is around 6 am. This places the Eclipse on the Ascendant-Descendant or horizon in the US Northeast, meaning its effects will be unclear yet noticeable. Check local listings for times and visibility.

Here's the astrological picture:

The Total Lunar Eclipse is in Pisces-Virgo. Pisces is MUTABLE water, Virgo is MUTABLE earth.

Since this is a Lunar Eclipse, the Moon is the star of the show and the Moon is in watery Pisces. Pisces is the WATER element, where emotions are strong. This Eclipse carries the theme of spiritual growth through the emotions.

During the Eclipses, emotions can come in waves that can feel overwhelming. News can have a "fated" quality. How will you handle sensitive people and touchy situations?

Allowing yourself to fully feel your powerful emotions can give you the clarity to make better, more informed choices BEFORE you react or overreact. Your understanding may expand to include a spiritual or universal perspective that helps you to go with the flow, which means accepting your flow and moving with it instead of against it.

The Lunar Eclipse chart calls on us to resolve emotional conflicts. Don't expect an easy solution. In fact, the more simple something "seems", the more may be going on under the surface and the more challenging it can be to achieve. It may not be obvious, but you can feel open or EXTREMELY sensitive to the point that you react emotionally to any situation that is trying or difficult. People can be inconsiderate and insensitive to your feelings, and it can be easy to absorb their negativity, which of course, they will deny "putting out". If you realize you can be feeling especially open and absorptive now, you can purposely ignore people and situations you know are unconcerned or lack compassion.

There is a conflict between giving selflessly to help others --- and how effective your selfless giving really is. There can be a point where giving does not feel good and is no longer helpful. Giving that is not supported or returned may need to be reconsidered. Perhaps you are not giving something that truly fits your flow, making it tiring or uncomfortable to give. And if you can give but you cannot receive, that can stop the flow and zap your energy. This theme is repeated throughout the Lunar Eclipse chart in many ways.

The Lunar Eclipse chart contains a MUTABLE GRAND SQUARE that gets tighter (more exact) at the Lunar Eclipse, and continues to intensify through the Solar Eclipse on September 11. The GRAND SQUARE is: Mars (in Gemini); opposing Jupiter (in Sagittarius); while Mercury (in Virgo) opposes Uranus (in Pisces). [Mars squares Uranus squares Jupiter squares Mercury.] And since this a Pisces Lunar Eclipse, the Sun and Moon are opposing in Virgo-Pisces (a Mutable opposition), with the Moon conjunct the North Node and the Sun conjunct the South Node in Virgo. Saturn is in the last degree of Leo, and will enter mutable Virgo on September 2. Being more disciplined can help you stay in your flow and feel compassionately. (Saturn will be in Virgo from September 2, 2007 through October 29, 2009)

MUTABLE planets are suggestive. They are open to information and will make decisions according to what they know and what they perceive. The problem with this strategy is that decisions can change depending on what was heard, read, or sensed most recently. The upside is that you can learn easily-- you can fly up steep learning curves, enjoying the ride, ready for more.

A major theme of the Virgo-Pisces axis of the MUTABLE planets is perfection. This axis is everyone's chart and it is where we feel anxious when we can't be perfect. Virgo-Pisces don't only focus on their own perceived flaws, they are quick to find them everywhere, in everything. Instead of reading the article, they get stuck on the type-o. They look for the error and miss the main point.

When you focus only on your goals, you will always see how far from perfection you are. You can never get everything exactly right. You can never stop to enjoy the moment or appreciate your progress. Insisting that you MUST keep going until you are perfect can cause stress that effects your health, another Virgo-Pisces theme. Maybe not today, but as stress builds, anxiety is stored in the body. Eventually, it's time to release your tension or have a health crisis. The Lunar Eclipse in Pisces can be a time of easily spread diseases that are hard to diagnose or define. Be careful about the fish and seafood you eat, as this can become tainted during a Pisces Lunar Eclipse.

Pisces, the last WATER sign of the zodiac, represents the source of EMOTIONS. Pisces people are perceived as wishy-washy or spineless because their emotions literally sway their opinions, which tells us more about our cultural values than Pisces. Pisces has a spiritual message. Pisces opens us to our emotions and gives us the gift of intuition. This Lunar Eclipse is an opportunity open to your emotions. Feeling your emotions does have a side effect: it can open you to new information that could cause you to change your mind. This is about being flexible. About growing, learning, and feeling, instead of being right, sure, and rigidly insisting that everything stays exactly the same.

Last week, a large limb of an old oak tree crashed onto our front yard, missing us by inches. The oak tree is very old and rigid and was not flexible enough to withstand the wind (there was no storm at the time!). It couldn't bend, so it fell. Where you refuse to bend, you can become rigid and fall. There's no glory in always being exactly the same. As we grow, we experience different phases of life, and to insist that we always remain exactly the same is unrealistic and actually stunts our development. Rigidity can cause contortion, dis-ease, apathy, and a negative state of mind. If everyone and everything has to agree with you or you will not communicate with them, you increasingly limit your options and make more enemies. Obviously this can happen on a personal as well as a national level.

Carrying negative emotions is a heavy weight that prevents many of us from living our dreams. Carrying the burdens and negative projections of others and accepting their (often unconscious) blame makes the accuser feel guilty and the accused feel shamed and negated as they always fall short of (unrealistic) expectations. On a physical level, carrying burdens can literally add to (or deny) body weight.

A Virgo-Pisces Full Moon can be the time to feel and release the heavy emotions you have taken on. Carrying the emotional baggage for people who (unconsciously) dump on others or use people as doormats is not the intention of being helpful. But there are many people who use supportive people to download their negativity. Being compassionate also means being responsible for how much we give and how much we take on.

Eclipses are doorways into new levels of consciousness. The Lunar Eclipse in Virgo-Pisces brings the Virgo-Pisces axis to the forefront in all of our charts. Wherever you have 4-5 degrees Virgo-Pisces is where you will go through a new doorway and experience the influence of this Eclipse.

This Lunar Eclipse can create situations and reveal secrets that show you how much you need to open your heart, surrender, be more humble, helpful, vulnerable. You may need to be flexible even when you think you need more stability. Taking on another burden can diminish your energy, taking you even farther away from your own source. It can be time to ask for help, ask the higher powers to help you, guide you. And besides asking and praying, ask other people. Ask friends, neighbors, clients if you need money, favors, things. It may seem noble to carry your own burdens, yet you will also need to find ways to relieve yourself of excess strain and stress.

Besides the Sun and Moon in Mutable Virgo-Pisces, the MUTABLE Grand Square (Mars squares Uranus squares Jupiter squares Mercury) can make us feel like we're swimming in circles, constantly trying to gather more and more information to improve ourselves, learn better ways of doing everything, and discover new interests.

We have access to nonstop FREE information. There are free eBooks, newsletters, teleclasses, blogs, and bonuses all promising more information and a better life. There are SO MANY subjects to study that could improve your life, business, career, relationship. You can find better methods to train your dog, play the guitar, sing, dance, do yoga, make crafts, play poker, learn any new subject. With SO MUCH FREE STUFF, is your life improving? When are you officially spending more time gathering information than learning anything? The quest for more information can start to seem like yet another excuse to keep from focusing on what you really need to be doing. There is a an important component missing in the endless pursuit of FREE information.

If you want to ease and release your excess nervous energy so you can relax and create change in your life, you'll need to make a commitment. It's on each of us to choose what we want to pursue further and what we need to delete. And then we need to investigate deeper and be more disciplined, even if that means spending money and time learning and practicing.

We can get in the Pisces flow and back into our intuitive mind when we relax and heal ourselves. The most basic way to release tension is to breathe. It's as simple as it sounds. Sit, relax, and breathe, in and out. Focusing on your breath is an ancient way of calming your body and soul, releasing tension. As you breathe, you can visualize a better reality, inspire your imagination, and re-tune your spirit to a higher vibration.

You can also relax your spirit and brighten your aura through meditation, prayer, and music. A good movie can engage your full attention and relax your mood.

As a culture (Moon), we tend to look unfavorably on emotions and it is acceptable to block or eclipse them completely. Yet blocking (eclipsing) our emotions also blocks our intuition (Pisces), our primary source of information (Mutable). It's not the emotions but how we react to our emotions that can make us seem foolish or susceptible. Blocking our emotions keeps us apart from our true selves, cuts off our intuition, limits our ability to be of service to others, and keeps us from doing anything creative or worthwhile. Blocking emotions also blocks love and stops your connection to your flow.

What you hope for may not be exactly realistic, and your hopes may be greater, or lesser, than what you can actually achieve. This Lunar Eclipse is a test of your commitment to your drive and inspiration.

Venus is still Retrograde! Read more about Venus Retrograde on Artcharts website.

Venus (Retrograde) is opposing Neptune, and Neptune is the ruler of Pisces, so this aspect, which continues through September, is likely to have a strong influence. There is a potential for disillusion in love. Since Venus is Retrograde, Venus will oppose Neptune through September (the opposition occurs again on September 21). Don't try and cheat love! If you do, it is very likely your secret will be revealed. We all need to balance being self-loving and being self-less. When love starts with being able to love, respect, and honor yourself, you can extend unconditional love to others. But if you start from a point of not loving yourself, you can find yourself disillusioned and disappointed because you are giving away your Self. And that never leads to fulfilling love.

Nothing is ever complete, we are all works-in-progress. Read more (almost) daily on the ArtCharts AstroBlog
