This is an exciting year for Aquarius!
As soon as the Sun enters Aquarius, it makes a helpful aspect to Uranus, the planet that rules Aquarius. This makes a sextile into a POWER sextile! It's time to connect and connections can be spontaneous, instanteous, and extraordinary! You can connect with friends, groups, new ideas, and you can do this using the internet or any media that links you to PEOPLE. Follow who and what interests you...!
Ruler Uranus has been (impatiently...) stalled in the first degrees of Aries for the past year and is finally direct and is ready to move fast-forward in Aries. ANd it gets help doing this: as the Sun enters Aquarius, it makes a sextile (help!) aspect to its ruler Uranus.
Uranus is in Aries, and ruler Mars is stationing Retrograde -- officially on Monday, January 23. And while everything may seem to be accelerating, the momentum can get lost in the details and ego battles as Mars slows down and starts moving backwards. The exposure and publicity that seemed so desirable can have results that are the opposite of what you expected.
The old ruler of Aquarius, Saturn, is square the Sun. Jupiter in Taurus is also square the Sun, creating a T-Square to the Sun. Doors may open, but they may take hard work and persistence -- sometimes in what can seem like overwhelming resistance. Yet, if you dim your light to accomodate the negative vibrations of others, you can lower your energy and miss some golden opportunities. In part, the resistance may be coming from others, but it can also connect with your own fixed beliefs about what you can accomplish. This t-square -- to the Sun symbolizing your self identity -- suggests that by looking at the part you play in resisting your success, you can start to move out of fear, preconceived expectations, and resistance -- and into an exciting future.

Sun trines Mars: Mars is stationing Retrograde!
Mars stations Retrograde in Virgo (23 Virgo 05) on Monday, January 23 2012 - April 13, 2012.
The Sun trines Mars on Thursday, January 12.
Approximately every 2 years, Mars makes a Retrograde station. During Mars Retrograde stations, energy seems to run backwards. The more vital effort you expend, the farther backwards, not forward, you may seem to go. [Note your Mars Retrograde house placement -- this is where you may have endless difficulties taking action that gets things done.]
When the Sun trines Mars (January 12), it signals that Mars is stationing Retrograde. [Jupiter also trines the Sun immediately before and after each Retrograde station.]
Although Sun trine Mars can be an energy blast, helping you feel a little more courageous and energetic than usual, the dyanamic energy you're feeling may not continue to flow as easily as Mars starts its Retrograde later this month. If passion seems to dwindle, just as things were picking up, that can feel frustrating. What makes Mars Retrograde extra inflammatory is the release of negative energy that has collected over the past year. And in Virgo, this can be very critical, anxious energy that needs grounding.
In Virgo, Mars can ask us you to settle down and refine your craft, rethink your diet, find new ways to improve your health or re-diagnose an illness. Clear thinking will help to keep your energy flowing, so you may reorganize home and office to sort out what you need and what you need to repurpose, resell, or recycle. You may need to streamline and make space for new projects starting in the spring...!
Mars Retrograde wants us to think, again, about how we use our energy and what happens when we take action. And it wants us to do this BEFORE we take additional action, or it will sabotage every thing we do. More to come as more is revealed...

Mars will remain in Virgo until the morning of July 3, 2012. Mars' last Retrograde station was in Leo from Dec 20, 2009 - March 10, 2010. Mars' next Retrograde is in 2014 in Libra. There's a pattern!]
