**Lammas, or Summer Midpoint**
Usually celebrated between July 31 and August 2, Lammas is the time of year when the fruits of the harvest become full and ripe. In ancient times, Lammas was a wheat festival, celebrating the year's incoming harvest.
Astrologically, the midpoint of Summer Solstice and Fall Equinox is 15 degrees Leo, and this may not exactly coincide with Lammas celebrations, yet this is the midpoint between the seasons, and marks the full splendor of summer. We are still in the fullness of summer, yet we are no longer planting and harvest is approaching.
At Lammas, we are at the highest peak of Sun power, and the beginning of the harvest season. After Lammas, the growing peak ends, and the fruits and vegetables begins to ripen. This is a time of both growth and the beginning of harvest.
