2007 is a BIG year. Jupiter is transiting in Sagittarius (Nov 23/24, 2006 - December 18, 2007), it's home sign, giving Jupiter even more power for expansion. While in Sagittarius until the end of this year, 2007, Jupiter makes a square to Uranus (October 9) and a conjunction to Pluto (December 11). The Saturn-Neptune opposition (started back in August, 2006) continues to be very much in effect through 2007. As Jupiter conjuncts Pluto in December, the Jupiter aspects, together with a long-term Saturn-Pluto trine, can turn 2007 into a crisis, or turning point, of belief and disbelief; old and new; security and adventure; change and growth that is both personal and cultural, virtual and real. All sides need to be heard and given their due. There was a Solar Eclipse on September 11, 2007. Read more about this on the blog. Artcharts wishes you a prosperous AND peaceful 2007! Excuses, avoidance, and false expectations are not substitutes for research or commitment and may keep you from achieving your goals by complicating and confusing major issues this year. The time you spend blaming the wrong person is time wasted on not solving the problem. 2007 may not be the year to (easily) concentrate or pay full attention to details. Things get confusing and everything just drifts into space..... Anything that even LOOKS tedious can make you dizzy. Perhaps you're not worried about facts, knowing you can make it up as you go, so what if it's a mess or makes a mess for someone else ... OR, you can choose to tap into your subconscious and consciously redefine your self, and your self-image, and start to flow with your higher self. The main astrological aspect of 2007 is Saturn in opposition to Neptune. And this major opposition is modified and characterized by Saturn trine Pluto and Jupiter square Uranus, along with a Solar Eclipse on September 11, 2007. Do opposites attract -- or repel? Saturn in opposition to Neptune occurs once every ~17 years, and this opposition is the zenith of the 1989 Saturn-Neptune conjunction, when the Iron Curtain fell and the Berlin Wall came down. 1989 was considered the end of the Cold War and the beginning of the New World Order. So how's it going? What have we learned about creating peace? And on a personal level, have we achieved our ambitions, realized our goals, still have our dreams? The point of an opposition and the way we learn from oppositions is, that you accept one side (or planet) and project the other, either by blame, projection, or transference. Until we learn from the opposition, we are certain that the "other" side has nothing to do with our own self, and everything to do with someone or something else. What we need to learn is that both sides need balance and are equally important. Saturn-Neptune reveals how the structures we create can be torn down, eroded, and slowly infiltrated. No matter how impenetrable your fortress or how strong your defenses, the gases, ethers, and waters of Neptune will seep through any wall, structure, or defense, changing its shape, purpose, and identity, whether or not you authorized the re-construction. Erecting strong boundaries, while healthy, can also be shifted, opened, or undermined as Saturn opposes Neptune. Neptune, being the unifying and invisible force no one sees, can be more powerful than what seems most obviously strong. Yet, like the ocean, the power of Neptune infiltrates and permeates everything, even the strongest barriers. You don't have to see gas to be poisoned by it. And this is how Neptune works, you don't see it, yet it is real and powerful. You may not be able to touch a dream, codify an illusion, or clarify a poem, yet its influence can subtly erode your world, or, inspire you in ways that may not make sense. Defenses erected to maintain a self-image, career, or social position can be among the first to show signs of cracks and erosion, as this year's Saturn-Neptune opposition tests the boundaries that support and separate us. If our boundaries are built out of fear, bias, or purely selfish desires that do not support society, they may show unmistakable signs of stress or erosion this year. However, if we have spent time building a structure we feel is strong and worthy, it's time to let go of expectations and just let go and trust the process. Striking a realistic pose How much control do you use to achieve your ambitions? Or, do you base your life on wishes and dreams? Are you continually disappointed by people not living up to your expectations? Are your expectations realistic, and if so, do you express them or do you expect others to read your mind? Relying on either side means this is a year to balance your ambitions and dreams. It's time to learn how things actually work before having an opinion or expectation. It's time to relax if you're obsessively fixed on achieving a goal. If you don't do it for yourself, something is likely to force the issue, and if you think you're immune, remember this is Neptune (ruler of immunity), and Neptune has a way of getting through ANY barrier, no matter how hard, solid, or tough. Neptune always trumps Saturn. Like the waves that finally erode the shore, or the lack of atheists in foxholes, Neptune's pervasive energy gets through even the thickest walls. Sometimes, it is more important to form a relationship than achieve a goal, or to find empathy for another person than to win bigger, or to touch your inner sensitivity instead of increasing your position. Perhaps there is something more than getting more, something of value that cannot be counted, but that makes your life worth living. Like love. And learning. And growth. And if you're imbalanced in the opposite way, daydreaming and wishing your life away without any clear plans, 2007 could be the year to define and form your goals more realistically. It's not enough to kinda sorta want something because you're "supposed" to have it, how are you going to achieve it? Who is going to do the work? How do things really work? Try to slow down and read the facts and directions more carefully before you lose energy by getting upset, blaming someone, blogging false judgments, and/or starting a flaming riff. If you judge without empathy, consideration, or honesty, you may find yourself increasingly stressed out and at odds with everyone. Is what you are insisting on: correct, true, necessary, kind? Diving for hidden treasures Neptune always stirs up questions of giving and sacrifice, and opposing Saturn, while Saturn is receiving a trine from Pluto, does NOT bode well for big financial or career gains. How much do you give? When does giving become sacrifice? Are you willing to sacrifice or can you only receive? Does everything have to be your way or are you able to read directions, listen to instructions (these are the people who score well on tests). Do you give out of guilt, feeling your best is never quite good enough, afraid that someone will hurt, insult, or abuse you if you make a mistake? Do you give to feel superior? During Saturn-Neptune aspects, we can realize there are no victims, only willing participants, and if you find yourself giving more than feels ok, why are you so willing to give up your power? Do you give in, cave in, and absorb the negativity, demands, and authoritative commands of others too readily or, conversely, find willing victims too easily? How much do you indulge your need for social acceptance by always trying too hard to please? Do you willingly absorb someone's venting, and generally take on the problems of others as if they were your fault. Do you vent or blame your frustrations on whoever seems weaker? Perhaps you have a need to be the bigger giver and sidetrack yourself in your fears? Winning-- or losing-- every hand may mean missing out on something more subtle. Someone you automatically discount as "not much" or a "dime a dozen" or something you can "get free anywhere", just may have gifts that are beyond the material world and well worth your support and emotional investment. Be careful of schemes, tricks, deceits, and buying an image without a receipt. Conversely, be careful of who you trick-- the last laugh just may be on you. Mocking someone at their expense can backfire and stir up negative opinions-- of you. But perhaps humiliation is just what you need to strike a balance between insisting on complete control and becoming more flexible and humble; and even if you won't admit it publicly, your dreams may be disturbed, disrupted, or preempted by your underlying need to become more real, authentic, and honest while being considerate and respectful of others. Ironically, you can change and open more minds with kindness than by telling someone off. Do the mutable stretch Astrologically, the theme of the mutable square is prevalent throughout 2007. Besides long-term major outerplanet aspects, there are several Eclipses to explore.... There's a Solar Eclipse on September 11, 2007 that positions the New Moon (Sun-Moon conjunction) in Virgo, square Jupiter, square Mars, and opposing Uranus to create a mutable Grand Square. More on that later... At 2007 New Year, Uranus (in mutable Pisces) is at the apex of a (mutable) T-square and the (mutable) theme repeats: the need to create change is not only tempting or intriguing, it is overdue and imperative, it is going to happen whether or not you are in agreement, willing, or able. You cannot stand still this year! If you don't willingly bend, you may break, so this is a good time to be limber and mentally flexible enough to seek understanding, find acceptance, learn something new. Expect a change of pace, a new outlook, a different mood. It may not be what you wanted, intended, or expected, especially if you have been resistant and in denial about the need to adapt, improve, or upgrade your life. And yes, your computer is effected! This is real and virtual. Using the internet to flame people you do not know is not productive and even upsetting, and it certainly cuts off a meaningful dialogue. Not everyone is a great writer, able to express themselves clearly, making it very easy to think someone has a "tone" when no "tone" was intended. Blogs and bulletin boards are filled with hastily written comments that misinterpret intentions, taking the focus off what the writer was trying to express and putting the focus on an argument instead of the issue. Or just taking a thought halfway and getting sidetracked... We are all seeing this and it has the potential to push our thinking further; we are learning to think more thoroughly and completely. Our thoughts are taking us somewhere, helping us learn, opening our minds. If we seem to be drifting in 2007, we may need to remind ourselves to hold down our responsibilities, continue our projects, and not find excuses to evade or quit what we've been patiently building. Happy 2007 from artcharts.com ! When it comes down to it, wise cracks and glib excuses do not replace honest self-reflection. Flippant remarks, while clever, don't solve problems but can make you and others more anxious, alienated, and stressed out. Making jokes at someone's expense may cost you, even if it is "funny". The way things have always been may not be sustainable, for one reason or another, and you may find you are forced to change, like it or not, willing to understand or not, in agreement or not; in fact, your personal opinion may not matter. Life changes, it's a mystery, and we are all effected at one time or another, whether or not we agree. 2007 may represent a massive shift in perspective, vision, insight, and attitude. This is NOT a year for the same old, same old, it's a year for bold, ingenious, new, and creative thinking that goes beyond the traditional, the conventional, and even the contemporary. Ideas you thought were wild, freaky, funky, futuristic, and/or unrealistic may suddenly be exactly what you need right now. It's time to stretch your mind, open it wide, and accept personal quirks and differences, strange as they may seem to you, we are all unique in our own unique ways. This is about finding the inner tolerance to go beyond your personal perspective and see a larger, more expansive view, even if it's in just your immediate neighborhood. Each of us needs to assume responsibility for appreciating the world around us and creating a positive outlook. You may easily overlook it, but someone without the latest "look" just may have the wisdom that changes your life, or at least your outlook. But before you spill your beans and or jump on a wild impulse-- hold on. You also need to know where you're going, keep your plan clearly in mind. Change will also be questioned and challenged. If you break down the word revolution-ary, you see another meaning: revolve, or turn. Just as the Earth revolves in an orbit around the Sun, culture is changing. This change is more of a modification, a questioning of the way things have been. Not all change will be natural or easy. Jupiter (representing tradition), will be square Uranus (representing change and citizens), so while we may feel compelled to change, an abrupt change can create more conflict, disagreement, and disputes that can even become litigious. We have to learn to make effective changes-- not just dramatic, impulsive, burst-at-the-seams kind of change. To improve our lives, we need to extend ourselves and explore our world. 2007 may be the year you become more interested in cultures, customs, laws, philosophies, and religions that are foreign and try to learn more about them before condemning entire societies for beliefs (or wmd's) they may or may not have. It's a great year to read books (not only the internet). If you have an opinion about a subject, 2007 is an opportunity to learn the facts and the subtler aspects. Happy 2007 from artcharts.com ! On the current social/political level, don't expect top news stories to remain the same for long. A short attention span can keep the public changing their minds and focus of interest quickly and without warning. One day's hot topics can be the next day's old news. Opportunities to create permanent change can be missed or delayed due to constantly changing priorities. With an open mind and an honest heart (Saturn is in Leo), you can work to enlighten and encourage, becoming a true humanitarian with the best interests of society as a priority. However, the long-term square from Jupiter to Uranus shows there is pressure to remove whatever is extraordinary and ingenious in favor of making everything more traditional and consistent. Besides long-term major outerplanet aspects, there are several Eclipses that would be wise to explore.... There's a Solar Eclipse on September 11, 2007 that perfectly reflects the major 2007 themes. The 2007 9/11 Eclipse positions the New Moon (Sun-Moon conjunction) in Virgo, square Jupiter, square Mars, and opposing Uranus to create a mutable Grand Square very similar to the mutable T-square in effect on New Year's Day 2007. This is a year with a distinct theme, which is change CAN be for the best-- if you keep in mind you are a unique individual on your own unique individual path which continues to unfold and expand, as only YOU could walk it. With more compassion for yourself, you may find more compassion for others as well in your travels this year...
